Scholarships for Growth

Las becas y ayudas económicas financian los aranceles y están condicionadas a la disponibilidad presupuestaria de cada tipo de beneficio, para que los beneficiarios cumplan las obligaciones establecidas en el Reglamento de Becas y Ayudas Económicas. La beca y ayuda económica no cubre costos de inscripción, matrícula, ni el pago de giras, adquisición de equipos o materiales que demande la carrera, interciclos, consolidación de competencias e idiomas.

El Departamento de Bienestar Institucional del Universitario Rumiñahui informa a nuestros estudiantes que las postulaciones y renovaciones de becas y ayudas económicas se realizan de acuerdo al cronograma estipulado en convocatoria general de becas que se lo realizará por los medios oficiales de la institución.

Todos los requisitos de las distintas becas y ayudas económicas deberán ser a través del portal Ister Tech IMPORTANTE: Antes de postular a cualquier tipo de beca o ayuda económica, por favor solicitar información en el Departamento de Bienestar Institucional .

  • Toda la documentación debe ser entregada en los plazos establecidos por el Área de Becas y Ayudas Económicas, cumpliendo el cronograma de Postulación o Renovación.

  • Las becas y ayudas económicas deberán ser renovadas o solicitadas cada quimestre en el periodo de vacaciones de acuerdo al cronograma publicado.
  • La información personal proporcionada será de uso exclusivo del Departamento de Bienestar Institucional para la tramitación de la beca o ayuda económica solicitada, teniendo esta el carácter de información condicional.
  • Nota: En el caso de no contar con alguno de los requisitos detallados, se deberá adjuntar algún documento que justifique el mismo, con la finalidad de realizar la validación respectiva.
  • Una vez que las becas y ayudas económicas son aprobadas por el Comité de Becas y Ayudas Económicas el beneficiario debe firmar el Acta de Compromiso de Otorgamiento de Beca o Ayuda Económica, si no se firma el Acta de Compromiso el beneficio queda ANULADO.

This category is intended for students in vulnerable economic conditions or those suffering from catastrophic illnesses, provided they demonstrate a minimum academic average of 8.50/10.00 (no rounding) from the previous level of study, and subject to available quotas for each academic period.

  1. Completed RU Social Responsibility Income Level form with an attached passport-size photo.
  2. Last month’s pay slip or income declaration of household contributors;
  3. Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  4. Sketch of the residence including Google Maps reference points;
  5. A letter explaining current economic conditions and supporting documents (single parent documentation, medical certificates, disability cards, etc., where applicable);
  6. Maintain a minimum academic average of 8.50/10.00.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Rumiñahui University Social Responsibility Income Level form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 8.50/10.00.
  • Note: Applicants must schedule a prior interview with the Institutional Welfare Department, where the interview format will be provided.

Eligible applicants are students recognized as the top graduates of their high school cohort, who have maintained outstanding academic performance and graduated no more than three years prior to the application date, subject to the availability of slots for each academic period. This scholarship does not apply to students who were part of the honor guard (flag bearers, standard bearers, or escorts).

  1. Completed Top High School Graduate with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. Notarized copy of the official certificate recognizing the applicant as the top graduate.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship:

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Top High School Graduate with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00.

Designed for students who demonstrate strong academic and behavioral performance within the institution. Applications are open from the second level of study onward, provided applicants hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00 (no rounding) from the previous level, subject to the availability of slots in each academic period.

  1. Completed Academic Performance with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  3. Sketch of the residence including Google Maps reference points; and
  4. Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.60/10.00.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship:

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;;
  • Completed Academic Performance with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00.

Exclusively designed for female students enrolled in programs traditionally dominated by male students, as well as those facing economic, social, and/or emotional vulnerability, subject to the availability of slots in each academic period.

Note: Applicants must schedule a prior interview with the Institutional Welfare Department, where the interview format will be provided.

  1. Completed Women with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  3. A letter detailing the applicant’s current economic situation, accompanied by supporting documentation (e.g., single mother documentation, copies of ID for both mother and child, medical certificates, disability identification cards, or relevant evidence in cases of illness or dependent care);
  4. Sketch of the residence including Google Maps reference points.
  5. Maintain a minimum academic average of 8.50/10.00.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Women with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum academic average of 8.50/10.00.

Students who have participated in and/or achieved outstanding individual athletic results at the national or international level may apply for this scholarship, subject to the availability of slots in each academic period.

  1. Completed Athletes with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  3. Sketch of the residence including Google Maps reference points; and
  4. Certificate issued by the sports organization or training center where the applicant participated.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship:

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Athletes with RU Social Responsibility form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum academic average of 8.50/10.00. 
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00.

This benefit is designed to promote access to and retention within the Institute for individuals with diverse types and degrees of disability.

  • Completed Dignity of Persons with Disabilities form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  • Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  • Sketch of the residence including Google Maps reference points;
  • Copy of the official disability identification card issued by the regulatory authority (Ministry of Public Health);
  • Medical certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and/or Ministry of Education;
  • Psychopedagogical report* in cases of intellectual, psychosocial, psychological, or related disabilities; and
  • The legal representative or guardian must complete a letter of responsibility and/or commitment on behalf of the student for academic or institutional activities.
  • Note: Applicants must schedule a prior interview with the Institutional Welfare Department, where the interview format will be provided.

For applicants with intellectual, psychosocial, psychological, or related disabilities, the submission of a psychopedagogical report is mandatory. This report should ideally be no older than one year and must be issued by the District Unit for Inclusion Support (UDAI) or the Student Counseling Department (DECE) of the educational institution from which the applicant graduated.

This benefit is intended for first-degree relatives (parents, children, siblings, and spouses) of faculty, employees, and staff of the Rumiñahui University Institute. It does not apply to extended family members such as nephews/nieces, in-laws, cousins, or others.

  1. Completed Family Employment form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. Certificate issued by the Human Resources Department confirming that the family member is employed at RU.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Family Employment form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00.

Faculty members, administrative staff, and employees may apply for financial assistance to support their undergraduate studies.

  1. Completed Employment-Based form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. Certificate issued by the Human Resources Department confirming the applicant’s employment at RU.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Employment-Based form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00.

This benefit is intended for students of the Rumiñahui University Institute who belong to an indigenous people or officially recognized nationality of Ecuador, subject to the availability of slots in each academic period.

  1. Completed Indigenous Peoples and Nationalities form with an attached passport-size photograph. 
  2. Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  3. Sketch of the residence including Google Maps reference points; and
  4. Official certificate verifying membership in an Ecuadorian indigenous people or nationality.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;
  • Completed Indigenous Peoples and Nationalities form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 9.00/10.00.

Special scholarships are grants awarded by the Rumiñahui University Institute to students belonging to institutionally prioritized groups. These may include:

  1. Students who have received institutional awards
  2. Students enrolled in Pastoral Theology programs
  3. Special cases protected under Article 8 of Law 83 (Heroes and Heroines of the Cenepa)
  4. Returning migrants
  5. Dr. Carmita Suárez Scholarship: covering additional forms of financial support
  6. Completed Special Scholarship form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  7. Utility bill (water, electricity, or telephone) from the last month;
  8. Sketch of the residence including reference points; and
  9. Supporting documentation certifying eligibility for the scholarship.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;;
  • Completed Special Scholarship form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Meet the required academic average as specified.

This discount is intended for first-degree relatives of enrolled students—parents, children, spouses, and siblings. It does not apply to extended family members such as cousins, uncles/aunts, or nephews/nieces. A maximum of two relatives may apply, starting from the first academic level, with eligibility extending to up to three family members.

Assigned Percentage

The assigned discount is 10%.

Requirements to maintain the discount

  • All scholarships are valid for one academic term and must be renewed each academic period within the deadlines established in the official call.
  • Proof of payment for the scholarship application fee;;
  • Completed Student Family Discount form with an attached passport-size photograph; and
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 8.00/10.00.

A one-time grant awarded by the Institution to students experiencing hardship, including family emergencies, natural disasters, accidents, or similar adverse circumstances.

Assigned Percentage

The assigned benefit covers 30%.]

  1. Completed Financial Assistance form with an attached passport-size photograph.
  2. A letter detailing the applicant’s current financial situation, supported by relevant documentation (e.g., single mother documentation including ID copies for mother and child, medical certificates, disability identification cards, or related evidence in cases involving illness or dependent care); and
  3. Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 8.00/10.00.
