This program enables professionals to:
- Apply advanced technologies to drive innovation, reduce operational time, and minimize reprocessing in oil production.
- Solve technical challenges while ensuring safe and efficient industrial operations.
- Monitor and control drilling operations, as well as oil, natural gas, and produced water processing facilities.
- Contribute to positive economic, social, and environmental outcomes that support regional development.
- Acquire the knowledge required to obtain industry-recognized licenses and certifications across different operational stages.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of equipment and facilities involved in extraction, production, transportation, and refining processes across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, automation, and fluid handling systems, using technologies relevant to Ecuador’s oil industry.
Graduates will be capable of monitoring and controlling extraction equipment and treatment systems for crude oil, gas, and produced water, ensuring operational safety, occupational health, and environmental responsibility. They will be able to identify operational risks, implement mitigation strategies, and comply with Ecuadorian regulations on safety, environmental protection, and resource management, including the promotion of local employment. Additionally, they will be proficient in managing hydrocarbon production, refining, and transportation processes, optimizing operational performance, and implementing technical procedures and contingency plans to minimize environmental impact, noise, vibrations, and waste management issues.
A Higher Technologist in Petroleum Engineering is a skilled professional trained to provide comprehensive and safe support across the oil industry value chain, applying technology and innovation to optimize processes and reduce inefficiencies. They possess competencies in monitoring and controlling hydrocarbon production and treatment systems, managing physical properties, tools, drilling equipment, and well pressure control, as well as operating platforms and fluid processing facilities. They also promote occupational health and safety, social and environmental responsibility, and apply national and international standards (ISO, OHSAS, ASME, API) to ensure efficient, reliable, and sustainable operations.
